So, I’m done fighting it. Something has been burning in my heart for several years now, but I’ve been pushing it down. It’s been resurfacing more and more recently as I look around and there’s no denying … there’s more chaos than ever.
This world is going crazy!
This is not the world I grew up in. Between the skyrocketing crime, insane world events, more frequent natural disasters, and just every day life that seems to be getting sadder & crazier for so many people, it’s almost overwhelming to take in. I hear them explain it away that things just get reported more now in our age of technology than before. But yeah… i don’t think so. It doesn’t take much to notice that something is going on. And it’s unsettling to say the least.
But I have THE craziest story to tell that is perfect for times like these.
It’s MY story.
I’ve felt the burden to share it, but keep pushing it down. Because …. really… no one cares! No one has time to read! I don’t have what it takes to put it all together anyway– the time, the skill, the patience!!!! But the more crazy that keeps popping up on my social media feeds — globally, nationally, and within my own friends lists — the more I realize it’s not right to keep this to myself. When I find a new food truck, a new tv show, a new product that changes my life, I blast it everywhere… but when something this big changes my entire life, I’m quiet? Nah…I’m just going to have to throw it out there so that whoever needs to hear it can do so.
Part of the reason I’ve been so hesitant is that I’ve tried to do this before. 10-12 years ago, I started a blog with the intention to write the story and got about 3/4 of the way through it before I stopped. I think maybe somehow I always knew that this was my calling. I knew this is what I would ultimately end up doing – but it was wayyyyy premature back when I decided to try it. I was not ready by any means. I was so discouraged that I chucked the whole thing. I have bits & pieces of it saved in places here & there… but I was sure I was done with the project. There was no use trying to keep up with it when I was slowly giving up on life in general.
And then ….
the craziest part of the story happened.
And I knew … that I was probably gonna have to share it.
A couple of years ago I had a dream. At least, I think it was a dream. I might have been still awake. Not sure. But it was like 3am. I was thinking about my life – the sheer craziness of what had been my life!!!! I was thinking about how I had somehow come from there and wound up HERE. One thought led to another, and eventually I had a vision that was so vivid. When I woke up, I felt instantly that the time had come to share it with people. I even drew a super shabby sketch of it so I could maybe use it in the future, should I decide to attempt writing again

…and then I let myself forget about it.
Months later, I was sitting in a church service that was focused on life’s purpose and the pastor put a basic sketch up on the screen to illustrate his point. It was drawn much better, but the theme was identical to the one I had drawn.

My heart began to pound & I *knew* this was my sign. This surely meant something!!!! I was going to ask one of my daughters to draw it up real pretty for me so I could use it for my blog.
…. and then I promptly pushed it to the back burner to let it set again.
It’s been rising up the more I understand things, though.
Recently, something called Chat GPT became popular. After using it to make tons of silly caricatures of my family & co-workers, I got another idea. For funsies, I typed in my vision to see if it could draw a better version. I gasped …. and my eyes welled up.

It was pretty much exactly what I had seen.
So now I have a picture for my blog. I might as well start putting words to it. I am a little nervous to become vulnerable enough to share my personal story with cyberspace again – but I know this is what I need to do.
As the old hymn goes, “It is no secret what God can do. What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you.” It took me a lifetime to get it through my thick skull. Now that I finally have, I’m ready to share it! Stay Tuned. Stick around. Hear what God can do!
